Our story

Reclama is a spiritual wellness community helping women of color reclaim themselves through hiking and journaling.

We want to make sure those who come through Reclama, no matter their lack of experience, have the opportunity to connect with nature on their own terms. It’s time we reclaim our space in nature to honor our spirituality and ancestral heritage so we can move forward as a collective.

Who is Reclama for?

If you’re a woman of color looking to reclaim parts of yourself that you thought you lost, then you’ve come to the right place.

Reclama is for those who want to get to know themselves in a more meaningful way, spiritually connect with nature or start their healing journey. Our hikes are scheduled around the New and Full Moon, with the intention to either let go or set new intentions.

Our journaling prompts, newsletters, and workshops will help you tap into your inner writer as a spiritual practice to lead to greater consciousness, wisdom and self-awareness–all cornerstones of honoring one’s story and intuition.

"You seek allies and, together, begin building spiritual/political communities that struggle for personal growth and social justice. By compartiendo historias, ideas, las nepantleras forge bonds across race, gender, and other lines, thus creating a new tribalism. Éste quehacer—internal work coupled with commitment to struggle for social transformation—changes your relationship to your body, and, in turn, to other bodies and to the world. And when that happens, you change the world.”

Our mission

Climate change is at the forefront, politics have never felt more polarizing, and yet despite all of that, there’s a return to our roots taking place right now, a reclaiming of the self. Women of color are leveling up in real ways in business, financial power, but, most importantly, as a spiritual collective. We’re finally having real conversations about our heritage, spirituality, and healing.

While there are many ways to heal, we choose to hike and journal as our way to spiritual self-care.

We are done surviving. We are ready to thrive.

Hola, I’m Cindy

I’m a Peruvian-American writer, producer and storyteller who is taking her once solo spiritual self-care routine–drawing from her family’s indigenous traditions and journalism background–and sharing it with the world.

My relationship to nature began in Peru. I would spend summer or winter breaks there with my mom. Peru was all she talked about all year long: what the mercados near my Tia’s house smelled like, finally being able to walk around barefoot near the river, and the smokey smell that enveloped our house on my grandparents land –– what I learned as an adult was palo santo burning.

Creating safe spaces for WOC, especially my fellow Latinx community, has always been a passion of mine, but it wasn't until I took my younger cousin hiking that I realized I could do just that out in nature. That was about 3 years ago and ever since I've been leading spiritual hikes and retreats by way of Reclama. It means ‘reclaim’ in Spanish. Nature and journaling have helped me reclaim parts of myself I was convinced I lost or didn't know existed.

Sharing this part of my spiritual self-care has helped me see my purpose in this world. Guiding women into nature who didn't always feel seen in the outdoor space or see how their energy shifts after a hike reminds me that I’m serving my purpose.
